OVERSTITCH

Brian Micheal Dunn | Luke Lunsford | Destiny Palmer

July 14 - August 20, 2017

Exhibition Opening: Friday, July 14, 6 - 10 pm

Automat is pleased to present Overstitch, curated by Steve Basel, an exhibition comprised of three artists whose work brings units of the ordinary into a relational body that displays a close attention to material and form. Ranging from what may hide its difference at first glance in the work of Brian Dunn, or the scalable dynamics of Luke Lunsford, to Destiny Palmer, whose work stretches out in monumental fashion. Though each work carries distinctive cultural and situational allusions, they all bring the viewer into a sensitive and open engagement with objects that are ever present. Building a bridge from where we suppose we have seen it all to where we look again, by being more than its image can show, by joining more pieces than might seem at first necessary, and by transposing an object with the gesture of another.

Please Note: This exhibition was held at 990 Spring Garden Street.

Gallery Hours at 990 Spring Garden: Saturdays & Sundays, 2PM-6PM and by appointment.

Special Note: Due to a recent minor emergency, the galleries of 319 North 11th Street are temporarily without exhibition space. AUTOMAT wishes to thank those who rallied behind us with support and resources to enable us, along with Napoleon, Practice, and Marginal Utility, to prepare 990 Spring Garden for our July and August programming. In particular, thank you to PAFA, the University of Pennsylvania Graduate Fine Arts program, Arts+Crafts Holdings, and Vox Populi.
