We long to make because we want. This exhibit brings together five artists who long to know the unknowable, to hold the inaccessible, to bridge a divide between internal and external realities, and reach for the elusive. They want that which can be taken away or could never be held in the first place.

Julia Fox, Claes Gabriel, Sarah Peoples, Lucia Thomé, and Leigh Werrell are Philadelphia-based artists whose work is tethered by their deep relationship to longing that compels them to make work. In this exhibition, the artworks serve as a placeholder, a marker, a reminder, a petition for what the artists really want.
