AUTOMAT Collective is excited to announce an open call for new members!

We are looking for engaged, enthusiastic Philadelphia-area artists, arts writers, and curators who would like to contribute to the Philadelphia art community.

Info Session and Q&A
Dec. 8th 3-4pm via Zoom

AUTOMAT Collective is a curatorial collective championing emerging artists through exhibitions, programming, and publications. We are created by and for artists: It is our mission to support the developing trajectories of emerging artists and to provide a space where artists and curators can undertake experimental projects that advance the dialogue of our visual culture. In addition to our regular programming, we are proud to partner with other collectives and community organizations for collaborative engagement. We are based in Philadelphia.

As members of the collective, we co-run the space, which means we are responsible for every aspect of the gallery's operations. Most duties are rotated based on members' interests and capabilities, with each person taking on at least one formal role for the collective. While each member is responsible for conceptualizing, installing, and promoting their own curatorial projects, other duties such as gallery sitting are shared between the collective.

For each of our monthly exhibitions, we work as solo curators or in small curatorial teams to find and meet with artists, write exhibition statements, install artwork, and create digital content for the exhibition. In addition to curated exhibitions, we also host an annual open call and several pop up exhibitions which offer different ways for AUTOMAT members to get experience organizing exhibitions.

Each member is expected to pay monthly dues to support the collective. Each member is also required to meet with the collective once a month for a 1.5 hour meeting and to gallery sit on Saturdays (12-5pm) once a month or so.

Being a member of AUTOMAT Collective not only integrates you into an established artistic community in Philadelphia, it exposes you and your work to our ever-expanding national audience. As a main pillar of our mission, we do not exhibit our own artwork at AUTOMAT, though members are frequently contacted for artistic and professional opportunities because of our affiliation with the gallery and collective.

We are seeking members who are interested in learning and growing with us into the future.
